SCULPTING YOUR REALITY

Last week, I was speaking with a student who shared with me some difficult news about his family. His close relative was experiencing what “looked” to be the early onset of a debilitating brain disorder. Mind you, there was still no diagnosis from the doctor, and yet, he and his family were already projecting the worse.

In my conversations with this person, I told him how very dangerous it is to sit around and discuss how bad things are, or will be. Words and thoughts have power. I was thinking about how often the Rav taught me, “never let negative things enter your mind or come out of your mouth.”

He did not mean that we should ignore. He did not mean we will not feel pain. He did mean we want to do our very best to inject positive thoughts and words into situations. The way we think about things, and the way we speak about them, enables them to manifest.

On the spiritual level, energy comes into this world without form. Think of it as raw clay before the sculptor has laid his hands on it. Our words and thoughts are the hands of the sculptor, giving shape, form, and dimension to our reality. We complete the manifestation.

I hear people talking all the time about their problems, how bad things are or will be. Spiritually, this is a problem because our mouths form energy, one way or the other. When we are reflexively pessimistic, we run the risk of creating unchangeable manifestations–well, nothing is unchangeable–but at least much more difficult manifestations than need be created.

For instance, the Zohar says if you have a dream you should tell it only to someone you know truly loves you. Like energy, a dream is un-manifested Light. Even if it’s supposed to be a blessing, it can be deformed by our thoughts and words – or those surrounding the energy. Therefore, it’s very important to keep our words and thoughts as positive as we can in any situation. And certainly to be mindful of not being around people who do nothing but inject doubts and uncertainty.

Another example goes back thousands of years to the reign of King Yoshiyahu. He was experiencing a tremendous uprising in his nation, and he wanted to hear direct from the Creator just what to do about it. As was often the case, he went in search of a prophet who could bring a prophesy down from the upper worlds. At that time, the two best were the prophet Jeremiah and the prophetess Huldah. After much deliberation, the King dispatched his messengers to bring him a message from Huldah, despite the fact that Jeremiah was a more famous prophet. His decision was based on the kabbalistic dictum, women are by their nature more kind and merciful. The King knew all prophecy is formed by the essence of the prophet, and he knew that whatever message was intended for him from the upper worlds would be a more positive manifestation if channeled from a woman.

This is the same idea. When we understand that as energy comes down, some positive and some with challenges in it, the way we and those around us speak and think about the situation begins to form the situation.

Therefore, we must be aware of the danger of negative thinking and speaking, as it relates to ourselves and to those we allow into our lives.

This week, understand the power your words and thoughts play in manifesting your reality. The more mindful you are, the better the outcomes will be for you and those you love. If you are really struggling with this – as we all do – then go to someone you know will inject optimism and help strengthen your outlook. This interchange can be crucial in positively influencing your blessings.
