The great kabbalists of the past thousands of years kept this wisdom with the foresight that one day it would serve as a catalyst for personal and global change. My hope is these words awaken your heart to improve, to elevate, to be better today than you were yesterday - so we may all come closer to a world with no more pain, no more suffering, and even as the Bible and the Zohar promise, no more death.

Two Realities

All of nature is connected to the Creator. This means that they feel the Light of the Creator and act accordingly at all times. The Sun the Moon and all the stars; all creatures large to small are constantly connected to the Creator. The only Creations that are not constantly attuned in thought and action with the Creator are Human Beings. We are the only creatures that are disconnected from the Creator. The reason for this is that we have free will and need to earn our connection to the Creator, and the fulfillment that comes from that connection.

This is a lesson that is as beautiful as it is powerful and practical. We need to take the time to internalize this lesson and its ramifications. One way to understand this lesson is that there are two plains of being: there is the chaotic painful and disconnected level that we humans live in while we remain disconnected from the Creator. Then there is the true reality, which is full of nothing other then complete joy fulfillment and peace, which is the manifestation of a connection to the Creator. This reality is where the rest of the universe exists, and it is our spiritual work to get there. These two realities exist in almost seamless concert. The absurdity is that we believe that our virtual reality is the true reality, when the truth is that we are the only beings just outside the real reality.

It is inspiring to know how close we are to the reality of no pain, suffering and only fulfillment, it is literally all around us. The only barrier between the true reality and ourselves is the thin, but sometimes blinding, desire to receive for the self-alone, and as we break it we step more and more into the true reality, we simply jump the tracks. It is very inspiring to know how unbelievably close we are to this true reality.

Another motivating lesson from this understanding is the fact that all animals, from the worms to the elephants exist with a perfect connection to the Creator. We are the only creatures that are disconnected from the Creator. And who wants to be less than a worm?

As we internalize this lesson we will begin to see the true reality all around us. More importantly we will be even more inspired to step further and further into the existence of complete fulfillment, leaving all the pain, suffering and chaos behind in the virtual reality.

Let It In

A sage was once asked, “how can we connect to the Creator?” He answered simply, “let him in.”

The Kabbalists teach the essence of the Creator is giving and sharing. This means its desire and essence is to share with each one of us all of its endless light all the time.

Why then are we not filled with all this Light at all times?

The answer is one of the most important spiritual lessons: there cannot be Light without a vessel.

Yes, the Creator desires to share and give us all of its Light, but it cannot give it unless there is a vessel to receive this Light. And the amount of Light that we receive is exactly dependant on the size of the vessel we create. The vessel is, our spiritual transformation, the more we transform spiritually the greater our vessel becomes and the more Light we receive. This means the amount of Light we receive at any time is exactly equal to the level of our spiritual transformation.

This understanding explains in a different and real way why we feel lack and what we can do about it. When we feel lack or pain it is a lack of the Light of the Creator. In order to assuage this lack we do not need to draw the Creators Light for its Light is flowing constantly. Rather, what we need to do is create a larger vessel through greater spiritual transformation. Once the greater vessel is prepared the Creators Light will immediately fill it.

Understanding this we realize that we are constantly blocking the Creators Light. If we are not constantly filled with Light and feeling the constant joy and fulfillment this brings, it is only because we are blocking the Light from coming in, through our lack of spiritual transformation.

This is an amazing lesson, which needs to be meditated on so that it may be truly understood. We do not need to draw the Creators Light; it is ready at all times to fill us completely. We need to simply and methodically remove the barriers we are constantly putting in the way.

A Little Bit of Beyond

You know, most people like to keep things within our comfort zone, within the levels that we understand. But the reality is that we have to be pushing. In everything we study and do, there has to be a little bit we don’t understand.

If everything we read, we understand, then we’re not reading the right things. In everything we study, there has to be something we don’t understand. Every time we teach, we have to try to make sure there’s in there our student, friend or child is not ready for yet; something a little bit above them.

Every time we do spiritual work, we have to make sure there’s a little bit that we’re doing that is not comfortable for us. Our entire work needs to be infused with a little bit of beyond, a little bit of beyond our comprehension, beyond our understanding, beyond our comfort zone.

Rav Ashlag would always say, people think the spiritual work we do needs to be all the way to the limit of our ability. He says that’s not true. A person’s spiritual work needs to be beyond their abilities. That’s when it’s true spiritual work.

How do you know that your work, your study, your teaching is connected to the Light of the Creator?

•Is there a part of it that’s too much?
•Is there a part of it that’s too difficult?
•Is there a part of it that you can’t understand?

If yes, then it’s coming from the Creator.
